Haina Wang

Haina Wang is a 1st year Ph.D. student in the Visual Learning and AI (VLAI) Lab at The University of Hong Kong (HKU), advised by Prof. Kai Han. He received his M.S. in Computer Science from UC San Diego and his B.E. from Zhejiang UniversityHis research focuses on Embodied AI and Vision-Language Models (VLM), aiming to translate cutting-edge AI theory into robust, reliable real-world systems.

About Me

I am Haina Wang, an 1st year Ph.D. student in the Visual Learning and AI (VLAI) Lab at The University of Hong Kong (HKU), advised by Prof. Kai Han. Previously, I received my B.E. from Zhejiang University and my M.S. degree in Computer Science at the University of California, San Diego (UC San Diego) (expected graduation 2026). I am advised by Prof. Hao Su and work closely with Liu Dai, one of his Ph.D. students.

During my undergraduate career, I was an active ICPC (International Collegiate Programming Contest) competitor, winning multiple Gold Medals in East Asia Regional Contests. I have built a strong engineering background through internships at ByteDance, Light Chaser Animation, and most recently at Luvbotics (越伴动力) as an AI intern, where I worked on Luvworld, the simulation system for multimodal robotic brains.

My current research enthusiasm is focused on Embodied AI & Decision-Making. My goal is to translate cutting-edge AI theories into efficient and reliable real-world systems.
